We want students to get involved with college life and make new friends whilst building on their personal development.
The Enrichment Team is based in the Student Hub and they offer a wide-range of social activities, some of which are competitive, fitness-related or just for fun. The team also run a number of clubs, societies and qualifications that students can get involved in.
Learners can take part in any of the activities once they have enrolled onto a course. Most activities are free and are held on a weekly basis on Wednesday afternoons, but this is flexible and can we tailored to suit students’ timetables.
The activities help learners to develop their interpersonal skills, increase their confidence to ensure they are career-ready. All activities can be booked either on Oldham College’s VITAL system or via the Enrichment team in the Student Hub.
The Student Hub
The Student Hub is a space to meet friends and relax during lunch time breaks. It’s also home to the Student Union, who offer a range of special events and a social programme. Table tennis and a pool table are available.
This space is for students, staff and visitors of all faiths, non-faiths and traditions; for prayer, meditation or quiet reflection. To use the space please collect the key from the main reception.
Events and Trips
The Enrichment Team arrange events, performances and guest/motivational speakers for students to help them to develop their knowledge. As well as this they organise lots of fun trips throughout the year, ranging from trips to London, theme parks, ice skating, the Clothes Show Live and much more.
A range of short courses are on offer, such as first aid and sign language. Not only are these courses fun, but they also look great on C.Vs and UCAS applications.
A wide range of sports activities are available at Oldham College. Learners can join a variety of teams such as Badminton, Cricket, Boxing, Fencing, Quidditch, Dodgeball and Volleyball.
Oldham College now has its own state-of-the-art gym on site, which students can access at specific times throughout the week, including female-only sessions. The gym is managed by a qualified fitness instructor who is available for tips and advice.
